Lisa Chin, Ph.D., CEO, Treehouse

Lisa Chin, Ph.D. has been announced as the next CEO of Treehouse. She previously served as President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of King County and Executive Director of Year Up Puget Sound.

Lisa is a visionary with a proven track record as a transformational leader. She’s spent her nonprofit career focused on young people, education equity and systems change work that provides opportunity to those who need it most. She’s honest, direct and fearless. Those are all qualities that will benefit our children, youth and young adults in foster care as Treehouse prepares to weather new challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For many years, Lisa has admired Treehouse and the work of outgoing CEO Janis Avery. Lisa is looking forward to connecting with our community of support who partner with us every day so kids experience childhood, graduate from high school and ultimately launch successfully into adulthood.

Treehouse asked Lisa about starting as CEO in these uncertain times, she said:
“I’m humbled by the strength of our Treehouse community and the team's dedication to serve those impacted by foster care. This collective vision for a world where kids and young people are lifted up is unshakable. Treehouse has done the work so we are ready to face this together. I begin this journey knowing times of crisis can bring out the best in us, and I could not ask for a better team or a more dedicated community of support. I’m inspired to go beyond my own limits as we build our path forward together.”

Lisa has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science & Art from Wellesley College and a doctorate in Education from UCLA. In addition, she’s on the board at Bellevue College and has served on boards at The Threshold Group, The Seattle Chamber, The Statewide Poverty Action Network and Asian Counseling & Referral Services.
